Life makes many demands on us. Teaching and lecturing can be stressful
with large amounts of paperwork and assessment in addition to teaching
and lecturing. Class and curriculum demands can become difficult to
deal with, especially if there are problems outside school or college.
Bereavement, relationship issues, problems with family and attempting
to balance caring for elderly parents with other responsibilities can
lead to feelings of frustration, overload and isolation. This could
result in sleeplessness, a weakened immune system and increased susceptibility
to a wide variety of illnesses.
Counselling can help you deal effectively with problems at home or school.
It provides a quiet space to explore the issues that are important to
you. As a result of counselling, clients find that self-esteem and self-confidence
increase. The process of counselling can help give you focus and new
insights and help you heal in a holistic sense.
I
am a qualified and experienced counsellor who has also worked as a primary
teacher. Therefore, I have experienced many of the rewards and problems
encountered by teachers. Although my background is in primary teaching,
I am offering a service for teachers and lecturers in all sectors. As
a member of "Counselling" organisation
I work within their code of ethics and practice.
Sessions last for fifty minutes and I offer a full introductory session
in order to explore your reasons for coming to counselling and what
you hope to get out of it. Thereafter, sessions are arranged according
to what is needed and agreed upon.Telephone and internet sessions available on request.
